■ About "Pink Ribbon in Tokyo 2026" (from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government press release)
Every October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month." Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in women, affecting approximately one in eight Japanese women. On the other hand, the five-year survival rate with early detection and treatment is over 90%*, making regular checkups every two years important from age 40 onwards. It is also important to incorporate breast awareness (lifestyle habits that make you conscious of your breasts) into your daily life. Therefore, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will be conducting the "Pink Ribbon in Tokyo 2026" campaign, which is based on the "Pink Ribbon," a symbol of early detection of breast cancer. This campaign will be carried out in cooperation with wards, cities, towns, and villages, companies, and organizations, with the aim of deepening the knowledge and understanding of breast cancer among Tokyo residents and promoting breast cancer screenings.
